Sharing below how I created a small play space and toy storage area for my little girls. As my 2-year-old continues to grow. Even living a minimalistic lifestyle. You are inevitably going to accumulate toys. So, I took a small corner of our living room that was not being utilized and created a small kids play area.
Plus, it’s a win-win mama. I have 90% of their toys contained in one area that is designated as their play corner.
I try to be intentional with the toys I purchase for my girls.
The first thing I added to their play space was this. Something to hide the toys when not in use. Aka, this storage bench.
I wanted something I could store extra toys in and still be modern/stylish at the same time. This piece was truly a perfect fit. The inside is wide and spacious to store lots of the girls toys. Especially the awkward ones.
Next piece I searched a longtime for is this play kitchen. We added a few DIY touches that I will do a separate blog post on to make it look more modern and appealing to the eye. My toddler plays with this every day, and I am impressed with the quality.
I searched for a long time to find a kitchen set that would hold up without breaking the bank. I’m just saying. There’s a lot of kids kitchen sets that you could leave you taking out a little loan for lol.
Without a doubt the most utilized piece of the play area is this modern kids table I found at IKEA. It’s super affordable and very sturdy.
I cannot say enough good things about this little table!
Next, is one of my favorite pieces. This easel is so great. It has two separate sizes. On one side you have the dry erase side and on the back is a chalk board.
This piece is really great for educational activities for your little one.
Emma always wants to help when I’m doing chores around the house. Of course, I’m 100% for that! So I went out and found this cleaning set for her to use and help clean alongside of me.
This piece is much more than a toy. It helps my toddler learn valuable lessons about helping with household chores and being a contributing part of the household and family.
I now think I adore this space more than the girls do! It’s so amazing watching them have their own space to play, learn, and grow. I never realized how much I would love this little corner. It went from being the most non utilized corner of the house. To know, being the most utilized corner of the house!
