Did you know, that if you write down just three things a day that you are thankful for, you will be 25% happier in your life?
Isn’t that wild! This is not the blog post I had scheduled to write this week. I had in mind to create a list of the best Black Friday Sales going on. Then, I realized as I was thinking more about it. Material items are not what create true joy in our lives.
While don’t get me wrong. I love a good sale as much as the other next girl does. Putting on your new shoes or applying that new foundation will only create a glimpse of happiness if any for just a short moment. When you practice gratitude daily. You are creating a deeper, more meaningful life.
Is not that what we all desire? To truly feel real happiness in this life. Then living day to day, on the non-stop complaining wheel that’s INCREDIBLY easy to jump on but almost impossible to jump off of.
No matter how hard your life is. There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Even the most tragic situations. I swear you can always find something to be grateful for.
How I practice gratitude daily is when I wake up in the morning. I write down three things I am thankful for. Whether it be your morning coffee, healthy children, that new foundation that works great. Big or small, it doe not matter. It’s about feeling the abundance your life offers you. Focusing on the things you would normally take for granted. All of this helps create a life that’s more positive and you will start to slowly change your perspective and outlook on life.
For what you focus on, you grow more of. That’s the same thing for being thankful for the life you currently have. You will create more of the things that bring you joy and true happiness when you stop and appreciate even the smallest blessings you have been given.
A lot of us (me including) get trapped in the mindset that “when my life looks like this, then I’ll be happy and thankful”, “If this situation changes into, etc…then I’ll be happy” Do not live your life like you’re sitting in the waiting room, just waiting for your life to happen. There is no waiting room. That’s why it’s so important to be thankful for the life you have been given and no matter what it looks like right now. To appreciate every step God gives you.
