This is a question I get asked a lot, especially since my girls are only 15 months apart. So, I figured I would create a blog post with all the items that made my life way easier with two under two and are must-haves during this busy season.
Konny Baby Wrap
I researched and watched a TON of reviews on easy-to-use baby wraps. Let’s be honest, I needed something quick and easy to throw on and not wrap 100x lol. The Konny Baby wrap goes on like a T-shirt and grows with your baby. I legit LOVE this wrap. The material is super comfortable and they have so many flattering patterns to choose from.
Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller
Another item I spent a long time researching about. I wanted a compact stroller, looked nice, worked well, and was decently affordable. This stroller checks off all the boxes. Folds up nicely. The wheels were a big selling point. I specifically wanted another jogger stroller because I was obsessed with my single one. This is super smooth to push and rides nicely for the girls. Could not be more pleased with this purchase.
Bumbo
The Bumbo seat is overall a great baby product. I used this a lot with Emma while she was a baby and even utilized it more when I had both of the girls. My go-to when making dinner, I would place them in the bumbo seat while I’m cooking. It was a win-win.
Evenflo Bouncer
This seat I used SO much when Bella was a newborn. It folds up super slim, so you can take it or store it pretty much anywhere. I searched for a while for a bouncer seat that was not super tacky and colorful. I came across a lot of cute ones that were a solid color, just also pretty pricey. This bouncer was perfect for when Emma was playing on the ground, I would place Bella in the seat by us and focus on both of the girls without holding Bella continuously and dividing my attention.
Baby Swing
The baby swing I used with Emma just as much as I did with Bella. I think the overall swing gets a ton of use and is a must-have for your baby. Bella took a lot of naps when she was a newborn especially when Emma was upstairs napping. The motion in the swing calms them down and like I said before. I think the baby swing is a must-have for any newborn. You’ll get so much use out of it.
Portable Sound Machine
Can we say lifesaver? I’m obsessed with this sound machine! Not only is white noise so beneficial and important for establishing good sleeping patterns for your newborn. This sound machine makes it so easy. Anytime Bella would nap, even those 18 min newborn naps, I placed the sound machine on. It saved me from taking her into the nursery a hundred times a day so I could use the sound machine when she naps. It’s super easy to travel with too. The white noise sound effect is so good. I use it as the only sound machine I take any time we travel.
Play Gym
This is great for once again when your toddler is playing on the ground and wants you to play with them. Anyone who has a toddler knows why I use this same example so many times. Since that’s 99% of the time what your toddler wants from you. The play gym allows for both of your little ones to play together pretty much on the ground with you.
Diaper Bag
So, like every new mom. For my firstborn, I had a super cute (small) diaper bag. But, when you realize you need double the room. You resort to a diaper bag from Amazon. Haha no, but for real. I love this diaper bag. It’s simple, has a TON of space, and is my favoriteā¦It’s cheap. Fits perfectly everything and more that I need for both girls.
Diaper Genie
We use our diaper genie religiously. The best part is, you legit cannot smell it at all. Until you change the bags, of course. Definitely recommend the diaper genie to any new, second-time mom or even fifth-time mom!
Another random piece of advice I heard a lot when I was preparing to bring Bella into the world. Is to get your toddler a new toy or something special to give him/her the day you bring home your new baby. This will help with the transition.
More advice for your transition is to include your toddler as much as you can. When you’re changing your newborn. Have them get a baby doll and pretend to change the diaper alongside you. You can use the baby doll for changing clothes, or even feeding a bottle. Promote their help and independence. I believe this helped Emma so much to not become resentful towards her new sister.
The last piece of advice is. Remember, this stage is fleeting and temporary. It might feel like your life is never going to be peaceful again. Give yourself SO MUCH GRACE during this time. Each day, hour, minute. Realize you are the best mama for your babies and you are doing the best you can. You got this. The season will fade and you will get that schedule you long for. As I said, give yourself all the grace. Don’t forget to take care of yourself as well.
