So EXCITED to show you my KidKraft laundry room playset makeover! Alex brought this home one day for the girls and I wasn’t too crazy about the pink color. Let’s just say it was horribly ugly haha. So, instead of getting rid of the KidKraft laundry room playset. I decided to paint it and fix it up a little so that it would blend in well with the girl’s playroom, which is mostly natural colors.
STEP 1:
I removed all the pieces (doors, handles, etc). This made it much easier to paint.
STEP 2:
Clean all the pieces with soap and water
STEP 3:
Apply Fusion Mineral Paint, color Bayberry. I applied two coats of paint. As you can see, the first coat was too streaky and I wanted a nice matte appearance.
I waited 3 hours in between to make sure the paint was completely dry before applying the second coat of paint. It was a warm sunny day, which helped speed up the process. Use your judgment. You may have to wait a little longer between coats.
STEP 4:
Apply Krylon premium gold spray paint. For this project, I applied two coats. Waiting one minute between coats. I will be honest and say, this was a little brighter gold than I anticipated it to be. If I had to redo this project. I would search for a more subtle gold.
Side note: Before I applied the gold spray paint. I tried Run n’ Buff thinking this would be easy. I had to place on 5 coats to get a solid gold color! Whereas I liked the gold color I ordered. I was not about to spend that much time applying 5 coats to all the appliances. Spray paint was 100% easier and a lot quicker.
STEP 5:
Attach it all back together and voila!
That’s it, friends! This project was really easy and fun to complete. The girls love playing with this Kidkraft laundry room set and I love that it’s more appealing to the eye and is no longer pink/yellow!
